UniGR-CIRKLA Project
In 2024, the Grande Région, with its strong industrial tradition, is taking a major step towards sustainable development. The "UniGR Interdisciplinary Centre of Expertise for the Circular Economy of Metals and Materials (UniGR-CIRKLA)" project, supported by the Interreg VI A Grande Région program, shows the way forward.
The project, led by the seven partner universities in the Grand Region, brings together players from education, research, society, industry and innovation to facilitate the transition to a more circular economy for metals and materials.
UniGR-CIRKLA is paving the way for the creation of a second Interdisciplinary Center of Expertise at the University of the Grande Région, and is focusing on three key areas: Society, Territory and Innovation.
The first axis will focus on educating the general public and training scientists and professionals through a series of exhibitions, continuing education modules and summer schools.
The Territory axis will experiment on a cross-border scale with scientific and technological solutions developed by university partners to address the transformation of materials and metals, from extraction to recycling.
The Innovation axis will lead to the creation of a digital knowledge center to present coherent and common data on metals and materials in the Greater Region, and serve as a platform for cross-border exchanges. It also provides for the networking of incubators promoting the circular economy.
