Eric Pirard
Professor

Prof. Dr. Eric Pirard is professor at the University of Liège and defines his mission as engineering the circular economy of materials and metals. He is the academic coordinator of the European Master in Resources Engineering (EMerald) which, in collaboration with the Universities of Lorraine (FR), Lulea (SE) and Freiberg (DE), offers a triple diploma for engineers specialising in the evaluation and beneficiation of both primary and secondary mineral resources. This programme is officially labelled by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). He leads an international research team of 20+ engineers who develop innovative technologies for the characterisation, sorting and extraction of metals from complex and low-grade raw materials.
Professor Pirard is the Walloon representative to EIP RawMaterials and a visiting professor at the Universities of Lorraine, Madrid and Lubumbashi.
He is cofounder of three start-up companies in the raw materials sector.
