The session organized by the beMedTech Academy on December 8 featured concrete examples and innovative projects in the fields of recycling and recovery of medical electronic waste.
Our colleague Thomas Néron, leader of the Metspitals project launched as part of the Interuniversity Chair in Circular Economy for which he is responsible, was invited to speak on the issue of metal circulation and waste management in hospitals.
Pr. Eric Pirard is delighted to welcome Pr. Alexandre Nominé (University of Lorraine) for a seminar on the afternoon of November 28, exploring how sustainability can be integrated into materials design in the era of the Green and Digital transitions.

Eric Pirard and Philippe Giaro were both invited as participants to the side event at Raw Materials Week 2025 organized by the Geological Survey Organisations and the Mineral Resources Industry.
This event was a platform to showcase European pre-competitive geoscience from geological surveys, promising exploration and mining projects, and industry-applied collaborative EU research.
Philippe Giaro will join the Raw Materials Week 2025, 17 to 21 November 2025 in Brussels, to explore the dynamic future of raw materials in Europe.
On November 20, Aubin Tshibanda, PhD student enrolled at the University of Liège, under the supervision of Pr. Stoyan Gaydardzhiev, will speak at the 12th International Flotation Conference (Flotation '25) organised by MEI in Cape Town, South Africa.
His intervention's title: "Sequential flotation of spodumene and lepidolite from a mixed ore from the Manono deposit in the DRC"
Yvonne Kaye Perocillo, one of our PhD Student, will present the fruit of her work "Eco-designing Processes with Simulation and LCA: Battery Recycling case Study" at the Metallurgical Conference 2025 organized by the Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (SMEP), taking place at Puerto Princesa Palawan on October 25 at 4.40pm (local hour).
Pr. Eric Pirard is a member of the Steering Commitee of the DIM-ESEE Conference.
The first Development and Innovations in Mineral resourcing (DIM) conference will be held from 15th to 17th October 2025 at the Interuniversity Centre Dubrovnik organised by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering (UNIZG RGNF). Experts from all over the world will participate at this event dedicated to the "Development and Innovations in Mineral resourcing".
Université de Liège – GeMMe was very pleased to take part in the PERMANET Project 1st Annual Event at Portorož, Slovenia, from 13 to 14 October 2025.
PERMANET project activities are being carried out over a 40-month time frame and create an innovation network enabling the development, demonstration and testing of new processes for production of Rare Earth Elements and related products, particularly Neodymium (Nd) Permanent Magnets in industrial environments.
Our colleagues Fanny Lambert and Mohamed Aâtach will participate in the GDMB Copper Expert Committee 2025 taking place in Leuven these 8-9 October 2025.
